The firmware as well as the electronics of the medical laser was developed for an international biotechnology company. The battery-powered (wireless) treatment laser is used in the dental field to kill bacteria by using photodynamic methods. The autoclavable laser provides 200mW of optical output power and is controlled by a capacitive sensor field. To obtain maximum performance, a complex PCB with extremely low internal resistance and highly efficient power electronics components was designed. The software algorithms processing the capacitive control panel signals were designed to ensure reliable gesture control even under harsh conditions such as wetness or dirt or by touching the surface with surgical gloves.

The device was developed according to ISO13485 and approved for the markets in the USA, Canada, and Europe.
